In our 9th year of delight in St Leonard’s Gardens we created an opportunity to develop understanding and friendship beyond religious and cultural difference, towards a community where bonds of respect and love are enhanced by enjoying each other’s Cultural Delights; by way of dance, music, food, dress and community initiatives. We were pleased to be encouraged in our endeavor by Hastings Mayor Cllr. Nigel Sinden and Council Leader Peter Chowney.
"Trust through friendship, peace though trust". 2018’s Festival was full of colour and warmth as the Interfaith Forum brought together many community groups representing different ethnicities, generations, faiths and projects to share the delights of their diverse cultures.
Rabbi Danny Rich's visit to the beautifully re-designed Bexhill Islamic Association’s Community Centre provided an opportunity to explore the importance and challenges of interfaith dialogue drawing upon his rich experience. He was welcomed by the Mayors and Imams of both Bexhill and Hastings.
In this our 8th year of Cultural Delight we were pleased to be joined by Hastings Mayor Cllr. Judy Rogers for the Mayor’s Community Picnic and to take the opportunity to reflect on how essential it is to develop understanding and friendship beyond religious and cultural difference in order to secure a community where bonds of respect and love free us from prejudice and hatred.
