Hospice Unveils New Multi-Faith Room

On Monday 7th November, St Michaels Hospice proudly unveiled its new Multi-Faith Room which will provide a warm welcome and place of sanctuary for Hospice patients of all Faith backgrounds and also for those who don’t hold any religious beliefs.

The room’s walls are adorned with tapestries that were designed and created by members of the Hastings and District Interfaith Embroidery Group and are based upon their own interpretations of the word ‘sanctuary’. These tapestries help to create an atmosphere of peaceful reflection and calm.

Christmas Went Global

There was no dashing through the snow this year to get too this event and some 200 of you made it and it was great! The event was declared open at 6.15pm by the Mayor Kim Forward, Leader of the Council Jeremy Birch and Amber Rudd our local MP. A selection of party games followed and the young at heart and the young in years joined in with gusto and good fun.

An orderly queue formed when the food was served at 7.00pm People brought cakes and treats to share. Michele Foo provided a delicious Chinese buffet and other members of HIO helped serve. The Gizmo Girls sung us into the Christmas scene beautifully. Don’t they look a picture in there ‘Santa Little Helper’ costumes?

CRUTCHES TO SIERRA LEONE - raffle helps cover transport costs

I just wanted to write and say thank you to Hastings and District Interfaith Forum and Partners for your support of The Peace Project and Operation Rise, it is very much appreciated. We are now well on our way to getting the Hastings crutches to Sierra Leone, which the raffle money (£148) is going towards, they have been fully cleaned and are ready to be packed and shipped, and I have attached a photo.

It was a pleasure to work with you all and I'm sure the Global Village Fete will be a great success next summer.

Please pass on my best wishes to everyone in the Forum and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Very best wishes, Sarah West (Operation Rise) www.thepeaceproject.com
