Hastings Youth Awards and Hastings Got Culture 2013

Sussex Coast College provided a wonderful venue for this year's Hastings Youth Awards and Hastings Got Culture, which interspersed awards for 20 local youth and community organisations and 30 individual awardees nominated by their groups, with exciting performances from song and dance to gymnastics and drama.

Hastings Mayor and Mayoress delivered the awards. Congratulations and encouragement were shared by Councillor Kim Forward, Lisa Couples of SPARK and Tim Miller of the Interfaith Forum.

Vijay Jackson and Jhelissa Bardrick did a great job as hosts and Emile Tambeh work tirelessly behind the scenes along with the Hastings Youth Council to ensure that all ran smoothly.

Performers included: Acromax Gymnastics Club, South East Stars, Pestalozzi International, Sweat project, Theatre Sense, My Time, Donya Rafati, Mad Fish, Gizmo, Dancing Ovation and Hastings Chinese Association.

After a very lively and inspirational time we all shared a wide variety of food prepared by local caterers; a fitting end to a wonderful event that brought recognition and encouragement to youth and community organisations, their staff and young people.

Many thanks to all who took part, and to Hastings Borough Council, Hastings and District Interfaith Forum, SPARK and the Foreshore Trust who provided support and finance.
